Certified” Diplomates of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery
Dr. Gilbert
and Dr. Greene have
achieved the highest academic achievement of oral and maxillofacial surgery
training and experience with their designation as “Board Certified” Diplomates
of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). The ABOMS is
recognized worldwide as the certifying body of scholar oral surgeons whose
objectives are to elevate and advance the specialty of oral and maxillofacial
surgery to its highest level and to provide optimal healthcare to the public.
To fulfill
these objectives, the ABOMS has established stringent guidelines and
qualifications of its candidates’ academic fitness and competence through
written and oral examinations. By successfully passing these examinations the
candidates are only then granted certificates of “Board Certification”
Diplomate status.
ABOMS
certification is not a local, state or federal licensure requirement to practice
oral and maxillofacial surgery. It is a voluntary higher level of
accomplishment, above state licensure, of the surgeon’s academic and practical
competence. Not all oral and maxillofacial surgeons in private practice
are “Board Certified.” Dr. Gilbert has maintained his ABOMS “Board
Certification” status since 1983.
