Lewis D. Gilbert, DDS
Training and Education
In 1980, Dr. Gilbert completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency training at the WVU Medical
Center Complex at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He is a Board Certified Diplomate for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, holding these credentials for nearly 30 years.
Prior to his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency
training, Dr. Gilbert completed his four year Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
degree at WVU School of Dentistry. He received the outstanding
Senior Dental Student Award in oral and maxillofacial surgery for his interest
and excellence in the field while a dental undergraduate.
Prior to dental school, Dr. Gilbert graduated CUM LAUDE
with a four-year BA Degree in Pre-Medicine from WV University in Morgantown, WV.
He was a Presidential Benedum Scholar and was involved in many academic and
social organizations as a college undergraduate at West Virginia University
(WVU).
Affiliations and Other Professional Activities
Dr. Gilbert is a Clinical Associate Professor with the
WVU School of Dentistry- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. He has
held this position since 1981. Dr. Gilbert is a State
Examiner for the WV State Board Dental Anesthesia Subcommittee.
Dr. Gilbert is also past president of the WV Society of
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a past president of the New River Dental
Society. Currently he holds the office of Delegate to the National American
Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).
Dr. Gilbert has
published several scientific articles and has lectured to dental students,
various dental organizations, civic groups and the general public. He
currently maintains hospital staff privileges with several local and
surrounding hospitals, near his Beckley and Summersville office locations.
Family
As a native
West Virginian, Dr. Gilbert has family roots in Kanawha, Boone, Greenbrier and
Nicholas Counties. He was raised in the Charleston/Kanawha Valley area and
graduated 3rd in his class from Sissonville High School, just north of
Charleston, WV.
Dr. Gilbert and
his lovely wife, Shella, stay quite busy in the non-professional life with their blended family of 5 wonderful children, ranging in age from 24 to 4! The recent addition of a new baby
boy has added unexpected joy to their lives. In his remaining "spare"
time, Dr. Gilbert enjoys surf fishing and boating. His
other interests at home include his Bloodhound, Jethro, Bassett hound Phoebe, and the cat,
Cleo. As an avid WVU fan, Dr. Gilbert follows
Mountaineer football and basketball passionately,
rarely missing a game!
Dr. Gilbert
and his family reside in the scenic mountains of Summersville, WV with Summersville
Lake nearby. With the choices of Summersville, Princeton, and Beckley as the geographic sites for his offices/clinics, Dr. Gilbert is readily available to serve his patients at any of the three locations.
Glenn A. Greene, DDS
Ret. Colonel (Dr.) Glenn A. Greene graduated from Ohio University where he
received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1975. He then dedicated
three years to teaching biology in the Cleveland public school system. Dr.
Greene entered Meharry Medical College in 1978 and graduated with a Doctor of
Dental
Surgery (DDS) degree in 1982. In August of that same year, Dr.
Greene was commissioned as a captain in the United States Army Dental Corps and
served as a general dental officer from 1982-1993 in various assignments
including Division Dentist for the 2nd Infantry Division, Korea. In 1993,
Dr. Greene was selected for specialty training in the field of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Upon graduation in 1997, he was assigned as Staff Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
at Moncrief Army Community Hospital at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He
went on to serve as a mentor for the one-year general dental graduate program
in Fort Jackson and was the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the 67th
Combat Support Hospital in Wuerzburg, Germany. He also served as Chief of
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at McDonald Army Community Hospital and finally
finished as Deputy Commander at Fort Eustis until his retirement in 2005.
Dr Greene was born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey. Since then he
has lived all over the United States and in several foreign countries. He
and his lovely wife of 32 years, Mildred, now reside in Beckley after
raising their three children. The eldest is a member of the Coast Guard
and has blessed them with a grandson. His daughter is an Iraq War Veteran and has added three granddaughters. His third son is living in South Carolina and works for the Toyota Company.
Dr. Greene enjoys running and fishing. He is an avid fan of the Ohio
State Buckeyes which leads to lively conversation in the office. Dr.
Greene is very active in his church where he teaches Sunday School and is on the
deacon board.
Dr. Greene serves patients in the Beckley and Princeton offices.
